History Of The 657 House Bed & Breakfast
657 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201

The home was built in 1920 by Mr. Derbyshire who owned Chambersburg Engineering Company. Two small homes situated close to the street were removed for the new home to be built. No expense was spared to build the pleasing architectural design. Some modifications have been made at the home over the years and it is hard to figure out exactly how the original design was configured. At some time, in the history of ownership, the home was divided into three apartments for rentals. A fourth rental, guest house attached to the side of the house, was converted from a garage.

The current owners, Joanne Tweedle and Ken Timian, purchased the property in August of 1997, intending to retire and live in a charming old home and establish a Bed & Breakfast. After several years of enjoying and renovating the home, the Timians opened up two rooms for Bed & Breakfast guests; a suite with its own private bathroom, sitting area, fireplace, cafe table and chairs, refrigerator and vanity area and a second room with it's own adjacent bathroom. There is a convenient second floor kitchen, breakfast room, game room and enclosed back porch where guests can relax and enjoy themselves. Both rooms have a cable HDTV and WIFI access.

In the spring, summer and fall, there are extensive perennial gardens throughout the property. The area offers many interesting activites and is situated only twenty five miles west of Gettysburg.
